{"id":263917,"date":"2018-06-11T12:54:28","date_gmt":"2018-06-11T10:54:28","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=263917"},"modified":"2018-06-11T12:55:47","modified_gmt":"2018-06-11T10:55:47","slug":"mobile-operators-on-rains-launch-no-comment","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/263917-mobile-operators-on-rains-launch-no-comment.html","title":{"rendered":"Mobile operators on Rain&#8217;s launch &#8211; &#8220;No comment&#8221;"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/263463-rain-mobile-launches-with-unlimited-data-promotions-all-the-details.html\"><strong>Rain launched<\/strong><\/a> its first mobile products on 6 June 2018, which it said will redefine how South Africans use mobile data.<\/p>\n<p>The operator supplies one data offering with simple pricing: mobile data at 5c per MB (R50 per GB).<\/p>\n<p>At any time, a Rain customer will be also able to set and manage their SIM\u2019s spend-limit, ensuring they never experience bill shock.<\/p>\n<p>Rain\u2019s mobile product is also an elegant way of <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/263477-rain-kills-out-of-bundle-data-with-its-mobile-products.html\"><strong>steering clear<\/strong><\/a> of regulatory hurdles related to out-of-bundle prices and expiring data, as laid down by ICASA.<\/p>\n<p>The launch of the new, data-centric mobile operator in South Africa is big news &#8211; but Rain\u2019s competitors are not keen to talk about it.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">No comment<\/h3>\n<p>MyBroadband asked Vodacom, MTN, Cell C, and Telkom about Rain and whether they will respond to the operator\u2019s mobile offering, but did not receive much feedback.<\/p>\n<p>Here is what the local operators told MyBroadband when asked about Rain&#8217;s new mobile services.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Vodacom<\/strong> \u2013 \u201cVodacom doesn\u2019t comment on products offered by other service providers. In the normal course of business, any new or revised products will be appropriately communicated.\u201d<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>MTN<\/strong> &#8211; \u201cMTN is continuously working towards providing relevant and cost-effective propositions for consumers of broadband products.
