{"id":266925,"date":"2018-07-08T10:24:17","date_gmt":"2018-07-08T08:24:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=266925"},"modified":"2018-07-08T10:24:59","modified_gmt":"2018-07-08T08:24:59","slug":"why-mtn-launched-new-fixed-lte-packages","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/266925-why-mtn-launched-new-fixed-lte-packages.html","title":{"rendered":"Why MTN launched new fixed-LTE packages"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MTN recently launched new <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/266855-mtn-launches-new-fixed-lte-deals-price-details.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>fixed-LTE packages<\/strong><\/a>, aimed at home users who want high-speed broadband connectivity.<\/p>\n<p>The MTN\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/266855-mtn-launches-new-fixed-lte-deals-price-details.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Made for Home<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0deals start at R369 per month \u2013 for 15GB of Anytime data and 15GB of Night Express data \u2013 and go up to R1,469 per month for the top package.<\/p>\n<p>The LTE offering is sold as a fixed-location service, where the SIM, router, and location are linked.<\/p>\n<p>Customers must ask MTN if their areas \u2013 and respective network towers \u2013 are covered by the service, and then apply for a package.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Fixed LTE<\/h3>\n<p>The new products from MTN follow the launch of Rain fixed-LTE deals through local ISPs, and Cell C launching similar packages.<\/p>\n<p>Telkom is arguably the most recognised player when it comes to fixed-LTE solutions, offering a variety of packages on its network.<\/p>\n<p>MyBroadband asked Jacqui O\u2019Sullivan, Executive for Corporate Affairs at MTN SA, whether their Made for Home services were in response to other networks&#8217; offerings, or if they spotted a growing need for fixed-LTE connectivity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Made for Home was launched in response to a growing consumer need for high-speed home Internet connectivity, especially where customers have limited technology options available to them, in their specific suburbs,&#8221; said\u00a0O\u2019Sullivan.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;With MTN&#8217;s significant investment into its network over the past three years, we now have the resulting accolades supporting MTN\u2019s position of being SA&#8217;s fastest mobile network.
