{"id":271183,"date":"2018-08-08T08:06:08","date_gmt":"2018-08-08T06:06:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=271183"},"modified":"2018-08-08T11:35:08","modified_gmt":"2018-08-08T09:35:08","slug":"snapchat-source-code-leaked-on-github","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/271183-snapchat-source-code-leaked-on-github.html","title":{"rendered":"Snapchat source code leaked on GitHub"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Snap recently sent a Digital Millennium Copyright Act takedown notice to GitHub, requesting that the platform remove a repository which contained source code for Snapchat, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/torrentfreak.com\/snapchat-source-code-leaked-then-taken-down-from-github-180807\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">TorrentFreak reported<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/github\/dmca\/commit\/7f359b0798e924363ac16910514b1f0e5a9d6fa1\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">notice<\/a><\/strong> is available on GitHub, and states that the repository was published under the name <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/i5xx\/Source-SnapChat\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">i5xx\/Source-SnapChat<\/a><\/strong>, which means a user going by i5xx published the files in a repository called &#8220;Source-SnapChat&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>GitHub has disabled the repository, stating the owner may file a counter notice to have it reinstated.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, the uploader\u00a0claims to be from a village in Pakistan called Tando Bago. At an online store linked to their username, the person claims to have a presence in Saudi Arabia for their\u00a0various mobile app programming services.<\/p>\n<p>It is not clear how much of the source code was leaked online.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This should be removed because it is all leaked source code,&#8221; the request states.
