{"id":2774,"date":"2008-02-04T14:53:00","date_gmt":"2008-02-04T12:53:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2008-02-04T14:53:00","modified_gmt":"2008-02-04T12:53:00","slug":"cable-theft-to-blame-for-adsl-problems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/adsl\/2774-cable-theft-to-blame-for-adsl-problems.html","title":{"rendered":"Cable theft to blame for ADSL problems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ADSL users across the country complained about slow throughput and related problems on their ADSL services on Monday. <\/p>\n<p>Initial indications were that international network failure in Asia caused these problems, but Telkom highlighted that this was only part of the problem.<\/p>\n<p>According to official Telkom feedback international ADSL capacity was reduced by a third due to a network failure which occurred in Malaysia on 1 February 2008. <\/p>\n<p>This situation was further exacerbated when one of the remaining 2 links was damaged by a cable theft incident in the Delmas area at 03:11, the morning of 4 February 2008. <\/p>\n<p>Telkom said that their surveillance personnel identified and located the break and dispatched a technical team to repair the broken links.
