{"id":277801,"date":"2018-10-01T11:54:00","date_gmt":"2018-10-01T09:54:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=277801"},"modified":"2018-10-01T11:55:41","modified_gmt":"2018-10-01T09:55:41","slug":"fbi-forces-suspect-to-unlock-iphone-x-with-face-id","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/277801-fbi-forces-suspect-to-unlock-iphone-x-with-face-id.html","title":{"rendered":"FBI forces suspect to unlock iPhone X with Face ID"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The FBI recently forced a suspect in a child abuse case to unlock their iPhone X which was secured with Face ID, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/thomasbrewster\/2018\/09\/30\/feds-force-suspect-to-unlock-apple-iphone-x-with-their-face\/\">Forbes reported<\/a><\/strong>, citing court documents.<\/p>\n<p>After searching the suspect&#8217;s house, the FBI charged him with\u00a0receiving and possessing child pornography and obtained a search warrant that allowed them to go through his phone.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect complied with investigators and unlocked his phone.<\/p>\n<p>This is the first known case where a law enforcement agency used Face ID to unlock a suspect&#8217;s phone, the report stated.<\/p>\n<p>According to the report, the FBI agent investigating the case found incriminating emails on the device.<\/p>\n<p>However, the suspect&#8217;s lawyer said that the FBI didn&#8217;t find any &#8220;contraband&#8221; on the iPhone X.
