{"id":279077,"date":"2018-10-08T21:16:48","date_gmt":"2018-10-08T19:16:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=279077"},"modified":"2018-10-08T21:19:34","modified_gmt":"2018-10-08T19:19:34","slug":"google-shutting-down-google","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/279077-google-shutting-down-google.html","title":{"rendered":"Google shutting down Google+"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google has announced that it is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.blog.google\/technology\/safety-security\/project-strobe\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>shutting down<\/strong><\/a> Google+, its social network service.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement comes after the disclosure of a massive data leak by Google today, thanks to a bug in the Google+ API which affected up to 500,000 users.<\/p>\n<p>The bug shared user profile information with apps that was not meant to be publicly shared. The bug was patched in March 2018, but only detailed now.<\/p>\n<p>Google+ for consumer will be shuttered.
