{"id":281035,"date":"2018-10-22T10:10:30","date_gmt":"2018-10-22T08:10:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=281035"},"modified":"2018-10-22T10:13:54","modified_gmt":"2018-10-22T08:13:54","slug":"new-whatsapp-vacation-and-silent-modes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/281035-new-whatsapp-vacation-and-silent-modes.html","title":{"rendered":"New WhatsApp vacation and silent modes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>WhatsApp is working on new features to improve chats and notifications, and these features are now starting to roll out to users.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Silent Mode<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The latest WhatsApp feature is silent mode, which allows users to hide the app badge for muted chats.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/wabetainfo.com\/whatsapp-is-developing-a-linked-accounts-feature-vacation-and-silent-modes\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>According to WABetaInfo<\/strong><\/a>, the new silent mode feature is already active for Android users and is enabled by default.<\/p>\n<p>This means that, unlike previously, users will not see a badge when they receive a message from muted WhatsApp chats and groups.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vacation Mode<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WhatsApp is also working on a vacation mode, which will stop archived chats being un-archived if users have muted them.<\/p>\n<p>WhatsApp currently automatically reverses archived chats once a new message is received from that chat.<\/p>\n<p><strong>LinkedIn<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Another feature which will arrive soon is the ability to link a WhatsApp account to external services like LinkedIn.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe feature appears mainly developed for WhatsApp Business, but some references were found in the normal WhatsApp app too.
