Bank Zero has entered its alpha testing phase after\u00a0announcing<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>that it has been integrated\u00a0with the national payments system of the SARB.<\/p>\n

The aim of the alpha testing is to see a small team validating the bank\u2019s\u00a0end-to-end live systems and processes.<\/p>\n

In recent interviews, Bank Zero cofounder Michael Jordaan has made it clear that the bank will offer<\/strong><\/a> new, innovative banking at low costs \u2013 and high interest for savings.<\/p>\n

Jordaan said that the IT costs of Bank Zero work out to \u201c1% of 1%\u201d of what it costs to run a traditional IT system, which allows the bank to charge lower fees and \u201csurvive on smaller margins\u201d.<\/p>\n

Bank Zero also told MyBroadband that it will offer more comprehensive functionality through great products and services.<\/p>\n

This will all be backed by Bank Zero\u2019s innovative app and back-end design that provides enhanced security by \u201cusing the\u00a0latest thinking and cutting-edge technology”.<\/p>\n

\u201cBank Zero\u2019s smart ecosystem will enable true financial connectedness in an already digitally and socially connected world,\u201d the bank said.<\/p>\n

Bank Zero\u2019s also aims to add innovation through its partnership with Mastercard \u2013 more specifically, its\u00a0\u201cnew generation of card\u201d that is aimed at providing cutting-edge security and powerful features.<\/p>\n

Bank Zero IT systems<\/h3>\n

Bank Zero will run on IBM LinuxONE, a scalable and secure cloud and data platform which can deploy IBM’s Secure Service Container to protect against data breaches and a variety of other threats.<\/p>\n

This platform is designed to deliver high levels of security and low running costs, and for this reason it is popular with digital-only banks around the world.<\/p>\n

Jordaan has previously shared progress updates on the installation of Bank Zero’s IT systems on Twitter<\/a><\/strong>.<\/p>\n

These posts outlined the relocation and installation of a separate disaster recovery system in addition to the setup of Bank Zero’s primary IBM LinuxONE mainframe.<\/p>\n

It is important to note that Bank Zero said it leverages a hybrid cloud model to deliver flexibility, allowing for increased redundancy and adaptability to client demands.<\/p>\n
