{"id":28332,"date":"2011-07-06T08:31:16","date_gmt":"2011-07-06T06:31:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=28332"},"modified":"2011-07-06T10:33:11","modified_gmt":"2011-07-06T08:33:11","slug":"telkom-receives-%e2%80%9cprogressive-company-of-the-year%e2%80%9d-award","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/telecoms\/28332-telkom-receives-%e2%80%9cprogressive-company-of-the-year%e2%80%9d-award.html","title":{"rendered":"Telkom receives \u201cProgressive Company of the Year\u201d Award"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/227037-Telkom\">Telkom<\/a> was recently awarded the Black Management Forum\u2019s Progressive Company of the Year Award in recognition of the strides the Company has taken in its latest <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/289175-BBBEE-Broad-Based-Black-Economic-Empowerment\">broad-based black economic empowerment<\/a> (BBBEE).<\/p>\n<p>Independently verified in January 2011 by the National Empowerment Rating Agency, Telkom was certified as a Level 4 contributor to BBBEE, with Value Added Supplier status allowing customers and partners to recognise 110% of their procurement spend for BBBEE with Telkom. This is an improvement of the company\u2019s 2007 BBBEE scorecard rating as a Level 6 contributor.<\/p>\n<p>The most recent verification saw Telkom achieve a rating of 100% for enterprise development and socio-economic development. The Company also achieved a 98.4% score for preferential procurement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThese scores are indicative of the trailblazing work performed by Telkom in areas such as empowering our black suppliers, improving the lives of communities in which we operate, job creation and enhancing the skills of our employees,\u201d said <a href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/273586-Charmaine-Houvet\">Charmaine Houvet<\/a>, Telkom Group Executive: Corporate Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>Added to this, Telkom featured prominently in the 2011 Financial Mail Top Empowered Companies Survey. Overall, the Company ranked 54th out of 100 and ranked seventh out of 10 among ICT participants.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTelkom understands that it has not reached its destination in terms of the transformation journey, but we are not resting on our laurels.
