{"id":283653,"date":"2018-11-07T09:41:03","date_gmt":"2018-11-07T07:41:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=283653"},"modified":"2018-11-07T09:43:07","modified_gmt":"2018-11-07T07:43:07","slug":"dropbox-to-integrate-file-editing-features","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cloud-hosting\/283653-dropbox-to-integrate-file-editing-features.html","title":{"rendered":"Dropbox to integrate file editing features"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dropbox has partnered with the likes of Adobe and Vimeo to release a variety of third-party software plugins to its in-app and in-browser cloud storage service, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2018\/11\/6\/18068650\/dropbox-extensions-web-file-editing-adobe-docusign-vimeo\"><strong>The Verge reports<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The new functionality, called Extensions, will allow users to perform simple tasks, including digitally signing PDFs as well as basic photo editing.<\/p>\n<p>Dropbox is trying to reduce the number of apps and tabs users need to have open at one time by integrating basic services into their digital platform.<\/p>\n<p>Files will have an &#8220;open with&#8221; option, similar to those present on Windows and macOS, where users will be able to choose which app to open a file with.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, Dropbox tried to develop its own software for this purpose, including the defunct Mailbox app, as well as the still-active writing and editing software Paper.<\/p>\n<p>Extensions signals a change of approach from Dropbox, as they have now partnered with big companies.
