{"id":303964,"date":"2019-04-23T18:56:14","date_gmt":"2019-04-23T16:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=303964"},"modified":"2019-04-23T19:02:02","modified_gmt":"2019-04-23T17:02:02","slug":"sabc-fires-chris-maroleng","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/303964-sabc-fires-chris-maroleng.html","title":{"rendered":"SABC fires Chris Maroleng"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The SABC board has terminated the contract of employment of its Chief Operations Officer, Chris Maroleng, with immediate effect.<\/p>\n<p>This announcement followed \u201cdue consideration of the findings and recommendations of a disciplinary process\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sabcnews.com\/sabcnews\/sabc-parts-ways-with-coo-chris-maroleng\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>According to the SABC<\/strong><\/a>, Maroleng was found guilty of breaching his fiduciary duties as well as negligence.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/ewn.co.za\/2019\/04\/23\/chris-maroleng-fired-as-sabc-coo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Maroleng told Eyewitness News<\/strong><\/a> that he will be appealing the findings by a disciplinary committee, and is also looking to appeal the decision by the board to fire him.<\/p>\n<p>Chris Maroleng was interviewed by Eyewitness News after the SABC announced his axing.
