{"id":320457,"date":"2019-09-19T07:47:35","date_gmt":"2019-09-19T05:47:35","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=320457"},"modified":"2019-09-19T07:48:07","modified_gmt":"2019-09-19T05:48:07","slug":"huawei-launches-powerful-server-hardware","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/enterprise\/320457-huawei-launches-powerful-server-hardware.html","title":{"rendered":"Huawei launches powerful server hardware"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Huawei launched its new Kunpeng server boards at Huawei Connect 2019 in Shanghai, China.<\/p>\n<p>According to Huawei, the new Kunpeng server board offers up to 25% additional performance, 15% increased reliability, and energy efficiency improvements of up to 15% compared to industry competitors.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;These boards will empower partners to built the ultimate computing products,&#8221; said Huawei&#8217;s president of its Intelligent Computing Business Department, Michael Ma.<\/p>\n<p>Huawei also announced a lineup of new Atlas server products that are powered by its Ascend 910 AI server chip.<\/p>\n<p>These include the Atlas 300, 800, and 900 products, each of which is detailed below.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Atlas 800<\/strong> &#8211; This 4U server integrates eight Ascend 910 AI processors for 2 PFLOPS of computing power, at a density of 2.5 times that of the competition, said Huawei. It weighs just 75 kg, and each server has 1.8 times the energy efficiency ratio of the competition.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Atlas 300<\/strong> &#8211; an AI training card which provides 256 TFLOPS of computing power, and offers an increase in images trained per second from 965 to 1802.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Atlas 900<\/strong> &#8211; an AI training cluster which takes 59.8 seconds to train ResNet-50 &#8211; a test commonly used for measuring AI training capabilities.
