{"id":322140,"date":"2019-10-03T20:38:20","date_gmt":"2019-10-03T18:38:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=322140"},"modified":"2019-10-04T07:02:15","modified_gmt":"2019-10-04T05:02:15","slug":"dstv-cuts-affordable-package-with-kyknet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/322140-dstv-cuts-affordable-package-with-kyknet.html","title":{"rendered":"DStv cuts affordable package with KykNET"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MultiChoice has informed its DStv Select subscribers that it will discontinue this service on 29 October 2019 and move them to DStv Family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDStv is continuously reviewing its content line-up, packaging structure and pricing to ensure that customers have access to the best fresh content at great value,\u201d MultiChoice said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs a result, we will be discontinuing some packages and re-directing customers to the main packages where the same programmes and channels can be found.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The company <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/75169-dstv-select-stopped.html\"><strong>stopped selling DStv Select packages<\/strong><\/a> in April 2013 and replaced it with a DStv Family.<\/p>\n<p>Existing DStv Select subscribers were, however, allowed to remain on this package as long as they did not become inactive for more than 3 months.<\/p>\n<p>Many DStv Select subscribers opted to stay on the package instead of moving to DStv Family for a simple reason \u2013 it included access to KykNET.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">DStv Select discontinued<\/h3>\n<p>The company is now discontinuing the legacy DStv Select package and is automatically migrating these subscribers to DStv Family.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYour favourite channels are however still available on our various other packages,\u201d the company told DStv Select subscribers.<\/p>\n<p>Many DStv Select subscribers highlighted that they now have to move to either DStv Compact Plus or DStv Premium to get KykNET, which are far more expensive.<\/p>\n<p>DStv Select costs R265 per month, while DStv Compact Plus costs R519 per month and DStv Premium R809 per month.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI only have the Select package for KykNET.
