{"id":324504,"date":"2019-10-23T10:55:42","date_gmt":"2019-10-23T08:55:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=324504"},"modified":"2019-10-23T10:57:44","modified_gmt":"2019-10-23T08:57:44","slug":"firefox-adds-enhanced-privacy-tools","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/324504-firefox-adds-enhanced-privacy-tools.html","title":{"rendered":"Firefox adds enhanced privacy tools"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Mozilla has <a href=\"https:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/blog\/2019\/10\/22\/latest-firefox-brings-privacy-protections-front-and-center-letting-you-track-the-trackers\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>updated<\/strong><\/a> Firefox with tools that let users monitor how the browser has helped to protect their privacy.<\/p>\n<p>In June,<a href=\"https:\/\/blog.mozilla.org\/blog\/2019\/06\/04\/firefox-now-available-with-enhanced-tracking-protection-by-default\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong> Firefox added &#8220;Enhanced Tracking Protection&#8221;<\/strong><\/a>, a feature which blocks third-party tracking cookies and cryptominers.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Since 2 July we\u2019ve blocked more than 450 billion tracking requests that attempt to follow you around the web,&#8221; Mozilla said.<\/p>\n<p>While this feature has been operating in the background, Mozilla wanted a way for users to see exactly how many attempts are made to tag and track their activity.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;That\u2019s why today we\u2019re introducing a new feature that offers you a free report outlining the number of third-party\u00a0and\u00a0social media trackers blocked automatically by the Firefox browser with Enhanced Tracking Protection,&#8221; Mozilla said.<\/p>\n<p>Users can now access a dashboard of Firefox Privacy Protections, which includes several new functions:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A detailed report of different types of trackers that Firefox has blocked during a user&#8217;s browsing.<\/li>\n<li>Firefox Monitor &#8211; A summary of the number of unsafe passwords that could have been used in a known data breach.<\/li>\n<li>Firefox Lockwise &#8211; Quick access to logins and passwords stored in Firefox Lockwise, as well as the ability to view and manage the devices across which your logins are synced.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To access the dashboard, Firefox users can click on the shield icon to the left of the URL bar and select &#8220;Show Report&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Below is a video that shows how the new tools work.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/dKmoubR-nVg\" width=\"640\" height=\"360\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><span data-mce-type=\"bookmark\" style=\"display: inline-block;
