{"id":325073,"date":"2019-10-28T16:56:14","date_gmt":"2019-10-28T14:56:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=325073"},"modified":"2019-10-29T08:45:24","modified_gmt":"2019-10-29T06:45:24","slug":"big-problem-with-iphone-calls-on-vodacom","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/325073-big-problem-with-iphone-calls-on-vodacom.html","title":{"rendered":"Big problem with iPhone calls on Vodacom"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South African iPhone users who have downloaded the latest update for Apple&#8217;s iOS operating system &#8211; iOS 13 &#8211; are reporting serious issues when placing or receiving cellular calls.<\/p>\n<p>The problem is exclusive to customers who are running any version of iOS 13 and is particularly prevalent on Vodacom&#8217;s mobile network.<\/p>\n<p>MyBroadband has received reports from multiple affected users, with all of them stating that within the first 10 seconds of placing or receiving a call, they are suddenly cut off and the call is ended.<\/p>\n<p>A number of users on social media have complained about the same problem, with all of them adding that they are running iOS 13.<\/p>\n<p>Vodacom confirmed that it was aware of this issue in response to individual complaints on Twitter.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Turning off VoLTE<\/h3>\n<p>In its responses to complaining customers, Vodacom said that a &#8220;new feature&#8221; added in iOS 13 was responsible for the issue.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;iOS 13 has added a new feature that Apple users should disable,&#8221; Vodacom <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Vodacom\/status\/1188739155574034432\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>said<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The company said that to fix the problem of dropped calls on its network, its customers should disable Voice over LTE (VoLTE) in their device&#8217;s settings menu.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Go to <strong>Settings &gt; Mobile Data &gt; Mobile Data Options &gt; Voice &amp; Data<\/strong> and turn off 4G, VoLTE,&#8221; Vodacom instructed customers.<\/p>\n<p>The network confirmed that the problem was related to the VoLTE setting <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/Vodacom111\/status\/1187367776949886976\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>in another tweet<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">IOS 13 added a new feature which apple users should disable.
