Capitec users are reporting that the bank’s services are currently unavailable<\/strong><\/a> across its various digital platforms.<\/p>\n

Reports began to surface on Down Detector at around 13:00 on 13 November, with both Capitec’s mobile banking and Internet banking platforms unavailable to users.<\/p>\n

“We are experiencing technical issues. Our IT team is working on fixing the issue as soon as possible. Apologies for the inconvenience,” tweeted<\/strong><\/a> Capitec in response to numerous complaints from its customers.<\/p>\n

The outage map<\/strong><\/a> shows that the issue appears to be affecting users across South Africa.<\/p>\n

According to the DownDetector page for Capitec, 41% of the problem reports at the time of writing were related to the bank\u2019s online banking service, while 58% were related to mobile banking.<\/p>\n

This news follows the South African banking industry suffering a wave of DDoS attacks<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n

These attacks were accompanied by a ransom note and resulted in the interruption of online, app, and mobile banking services at some banks.<\/p>\n

Capitec had not immediately responded to queries regarding the online banking downtime at the time of writing.<\/p>\n
