5 controller &#8211; A first look"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Images filed with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.j-platpat.inpit.go.jp\/d0200\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Japanese Patent Office<\/strong><\/a> have provided the first look at what the upcoming PlayStation 5 controller may look like.<\/p>\n<p>According to these sketches, there doesn&#8217;t appear to be much that is significantly different when compared with the current DualShock 4 controller, but there are some <a href=\"https:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2019\/11\/18\/sony-patent-may-show-playstation-5-controller\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>minor changes<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The PlayStation 5 controller doesn&#8217;t appear to have a light bar, which could result in superior battery life &#8211; especially when combined with the improved battery Sony is planning on using in the controller.<\/p>\n<p>The controller in the images also appears to sport slightly larger triggers, and it looks to have dropped the two-tone design.<\/p>\n<p>The thumbsticks will remain symmetrical, continuing the trend that Microsoft bucked with the Xbox.<\/p>\n<p>Sony previously <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/gaming\/322560-official-playstation-5-launch-date-revealed.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>announced<\/strong><\/a> that it will adopt haptic feedback to replace the traditional \u201crumble\u201d technology in its controllers &#8211; offering a better range of vibrations and improved immersion.<\/p>\n<p>The company will also change the way its controllers\u2019 triggers work, with the new triggers allowing developers to manipulate resistance depending on in-game events.<\/p>\n<p>Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan announced in October that the PlayStation 5 will launch in &#8220;holiday 2020.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Images of the PlayStation 5 controller patent filing can be viewed below.<\/p>\n<p><a
