Parrot<\/a>, makers of the A.R. Drone quadrocopter have released an application on the Android<\/a> Marketplace that allows Android smartphone users to pilot the A.R. Drone using their mobile phone.<\/p>\n

The smartphone connects to the same Wi-Fi network as the A.R. Drone and controls the movement of the quadrocopter, allowing users to pilot it while viewing the A.R. Drones onboard camera.<\/p>\n

Parrot has also made the Software Development Kit (SDK) available for developers who want to expand and develop their own applications for the A.R. Drone.<\/p>\n

Devices compatible with the A.R. Drone software are:<\/p>\n

Samsung<\/a> Galaxy S, Samsung Galaxy S 2, Nexus S, Motorola<\/a> Xoom, HTC<\/a> Desire, HTC Desire HD, HTC Sensation, LG Optimus 2x and the Sony Ericsson<\/a> Xperia Play.<\/p>\n

Parrot intends to develop the software further to ensure more phones appear on the compatibility list in future.<\/p>\n

<\/strong>Parrot, leader in wireless peripherals for mobile phones, brings the experience of piloting the AR.Drone to users of Smartphones running Android\u2122.<\/p>\n

\u2018AR.FreeFlight\u2019 and SDK for Android\u2122 <\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n

The users of Android\u2013powered smartphones and fans of the Parrot AR.Drone can now find a free version of AR.FreeFlight\u2019s piloting application developed by Parrot on Android Market\u2122.<\/p>\n

Once the application has been downloaded and connected via Wi-Fi with the quadricopter, the device\u2019s screen turns into a true piloting station.<\/p>\n

Parrot is also making the Software Development Kit available free of charge, on https:\/\/projects.ardrone.org<\/a>, in order for developers to develop their own Android based applications for the AR.Drone.<\/p>\n

Currently the compatible devices are the Samsung Galaxy S*, Galaxy S II* and Nexus S\u00a0; Motorola Xoom*\u00a0; HTC Desire*, Desire HD, Sensation and LG Optimus 2x and Sony Ericsson <\/strong>Xperia Play**.
