{"id":340267,"date":"2020-02-26T15:08:08","date_gmt":"2020-02-26T13:08:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=340267"},"modified":"2020-02-26T15:09:12","modified_gmt":"2020-02-26T13:09:12","slug":"vodacom-coronavirus-lockdown","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/science\/340267-vodacom-coronavirus-lockdown.html","title":{"rendered":"Vodacom coronavirus lockdown"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Vodacom has warned its suppliers that they must comply with its stringent coronavirus mitigations to prevent contamination from spreading to the company&#8217;s employees.<\/p>\n<p>In a mail sent out earlier this month that was seen by MyBroadband, the company laid out requirements for all of its suppliers and third-party staff and blocked them from accessing its properties until they comply with these precautions.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Due to the Novel Coronavirus outbreak in China, Vodacom has put measures in place to mitigate exposure to the virus,&#8221; the company told suppliers.<\/p>\n<p>It said that all suppliers should execute a number of steps &#8220;with immediate effect&#8221;, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All suppliers who have travelled to China or been exposed to sources of coronavirus must be placed under observation and isolation for at least 14 days.<\/li>\n<li>All suppliers must provide a list of staff who have been placed under quarantine to Vodacom.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Vodacom also said that it would implement a soft lock on all supplier staff access immediately until these conditions were met.<\/p>\n<p>It added that it would carry out re-certification of all supplier and third-party access once all necessary steps were completed.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Unauthorized access to any of Vodacom&#8217;s premises is strictly prohibited,&#8221; Vodacom said.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Vodacom responds<\/h3>\n<p>MyBroadband reached out to Vodacom for more information on the company&#8217;s coronavirus countermeasures, and the company confirmed it has taken precautionary steps against the virus.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As part of our ongoing commitment to making sure we are proactive about the health and safety of our employees, suppliers and all people who work with Vodacom, we have taken a number of precautionary measures to manage the potential situation,&#8221;
