{"id":341541,"date":"2020-06-08T13:29:53","date_gmt":"2020-06-08T11:29:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=341541"},"modified":"2020-06-08T13:31:21","modified_gmt":"2020-06-08T11:31:21","slug":"which-south-african-universities-produce-the-highest-paid-it-graduates","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/business\/341541-which-south-african-universities-produce-the-highest-paid-it-graduates.html","title":{"rendered":"Which South African universities produce the highest-paid IT graduates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>South African universities which produce the highest-earning graduates include the University of KwaZulu-Natal, the University of the Witwatersrand, and the University of Pretoria.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to data from international wage-tracking group <a href=\"https:\/\/www.payscale.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>PayScale<\/strong><\/a>, which collects data from user submissions to determine career trends and salary averages.<\/p>\n<p>We used this data to rank the average salaries of South African universities and compare the average salaries of tech-related jobs.<\/p>\n<p>PayScale\u2019s data is largely comprised of early to mid-level career submissions, which account for 65% to 70% of the data used in this comparison.<\/p>\n<p>Entry-level and late-career submissions account for under 5% each, with the balance being those who are well-experienced in their fields.<\/p>\n<p>This accounts for the relatively low averages in the salaries, as there are wide salary ranges, where an entry-level worker, say in tech support, would draw a much smaller salary than the multi-million rand pay of a tech CEO.<\/p>\n<p>Below are the universities which produce the highest-paid graduates overall, as well as those which produce the highest-paid software development graduates.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Universities<\/h3>\n<p>The data below shows the average salaries for alumni from South Africa&#8217;s major universities &#8211; the university said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Wits Information Systems specialisation (which can be taken within both a BCom and BSc) is primarily aimed at students interested in the development of systems for corporates, non-profits and the public sector, although many of our students also follow their own entrepreneurial paths.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The analytical, technical, business and communication skills gained through the Wits Information Systems specialisation can lead to a wide range of career choices,&#8221; the university said.<\/p>\n<p>The university provided a number of careers which this specialisation can make available for graduates, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Systems Analyst<\/li>\n<li>Business Analyst<\/li>\n<li>Analyst Programmer<\/li>\n<li>Technology Consultant<\/li>\n<li>Application\/System Developer<\/li>\n<li>UX\/UI Designer<\/li>\n<li>Process Engineer<\/li>\n<li>Technology Project Manager<\/li>\n<li>Change Manager<\/li>\n<li>Database Administrator<\/li>\n<li>Technology Architect<\/li>\n<li>IT auditor<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The University of Pretoria told MyBroadband that its faculty of engineering, built environment, and information technology was the top engineering school in South Africa.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;EBIT has educated many generations of leaders and produced graduates who are well represented as some of the best ambassadors in the industry,&#8221;
