Premium open weekend online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>DStv has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dstv.co.za\/whats-on\/news\/articles\/for-one-weekend-only-stream-any-channel-on-dstv-premium\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>announced<\/strong><\/a> that its subscribers will be able to watch Premium channels online for the weekend of 14-15 March.<\/p>\n<p>Customers who have an EasyView, Access, Family, Compact, or Compact Plus will be able to view every channel on Premium via DStv Now on Saturday and Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>This includes all of the SuperSport channels and several high-profile events taking place over the weekend, including:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Most of the weekend&#8217;s Super Rugby matches on SuperSport 1<\/li>\n<li>India vs South Africa 2nd ODI on SuperSport 2<\/li>\n<li>Tottenham Hotspur vs Manchester United on SuperSport 3<\/li>\n<li>Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix on SuperSport 5<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Customers who have not yet done so will have to sign up for DStv Now and link their account on <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/now.dstv.com\/?_ga=2.160667901.1799678479.1583815602-471878482.1582606972\">now.dstv.com<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0to access these channels for the promotional period.<\/p>\n<p>Users will be able to stream Premium channels on the web portal or via the DStv Now app, which is available on the Google Play and Apple App stores.<\/p>\n<p>It should be noted that the Indian, French, and Portuguese language packages are not included in the open weekend.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">DStv without a decoder<\/h3>\n<p>MultiChoice previously said it was planning to launch a standalone DStv Now service which does not require the installation of a decoder and dish.<\/p>\n<p>In November 2019, MultiChoice Connected Video CEO Niclas Ekdahl <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/328887-dstv-without-a-decoder-planned-for-2020.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>confirmed<\/strong><\/a> to MyBroadband that DStv wants to launch the service before the end of March 2020.<\/p>\n<p>Ekdahl said the responsible team wanted to ensure that the service was up to scratch before launch.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the stuff that we\u2019ve done on DStv Now in the past 12 months is actually bringing us much closer to saying that \u2018Yeah, this is a service where I can stand behind\u2019, and say that this is going to be delivering a seamless user journey for our consumers,\u201d Ekdahl said.<\/p>\n<p>This weekend could serve as a test to see if the platform will be able to handle the additional streaming load.<\/p>\n<p>During the Rugby World Cup, DStv Now users <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/322238-dstv-now-problems-during-south-africa-rugby-games-explained.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>reported<\/strong><\/a> downtime and low-quality streaming issues on the platform.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Now read: <a
