{"id":34374,"date":"2011-09-21T10:01:29","date_gmt":"2011-09-21T08:01:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=34374"},"modified":"2011-09-21T10:03:03","modified_gmt":"2011-09-21T08:03:03","slug":"more-android-vulnerabilities-exposed","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/34374-more-android-vulnerabilities-exposed.html","title":{"rendered":"More Android vulnerabilities exposed"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Known for highlighting previous <a title=\"Android Mobile Oerating System\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/221979-Google-Android\">Android<\/a> exploits, Jon Oberheide and Zach Lanier have pointed out two new vulnerabilities in the mobile OS.<\/p>\n<p>The first vulnerability is known as a \u201cPermission escalation vulnerability\u201d, and allows attackers to install additional \u201carbitrary applications with arbitrary permissions\u201d, without first asking the user if they want to permit such actions. This would allow attackers to access call records, texts, web browsing history and media stored on the device.<\/p>\n<p>The second bug only affects the <a title=\"Samsung\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/333656-Samsung\">Samsung<\/a> Nexus S smartphone.
