adds live news channels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Showmax has announced the addition of seven live news channels to its video streaming service.<\/p>\n<p>The company said it was adding the content to allow subscribers to keep up with developments during the COVID-19 coronavirus lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>The channels included are:<\/p>\n<div class=\"\">\n<div class=\"WordSection1\">\n<ul>\n<li><strong><span class=\"\">BBC World News<\/span><\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>SABC News<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Sky News<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>CNN<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Newzroom Afrika<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Al Jazeera<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Euronews<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The channels are already available in South Africa on Showmax&#8217;s web platform for Chrome, Firefox, Safari, and Edge browsers, as well as on Samsung and LG smart TVs which support the Showmax app.<\/p>\n<p>Support for Android boxes running version 4.4.0 or higher and Android TV is expected to go live later today, with iOS and Apple TV will be added shortly.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Free DStv Now channels<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p>Showmax&#8217;s move follows DStv Now making a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dstv.co.za\/whats-on\/news\/articles\/stay-informed-about-covid-19-with-dstv\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>selection of channels<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0available to all South Africans for free.<\/p>\n<p>The new free channel package is available to all South Africans, however, and not only DStv subscribers.<\/p>\n<p>The company <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/343021-free-dstv-now-channels-and-shows-for-all-south-africans.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>said<\/strong><\/a> that in response to the coronavirus outbreak in South Africa, a number of DStv Now channels are no longer locked behind a subscription and are available to anyone with an Internet connection.<\/p>\n<p>The channels DStv now has opened for free include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>100<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 DStv<\/li>\n<li><strong>180<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 People\u2019s Weather<\/li>\n<li><strong>238<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 SuperSport Play<\/li>\n<li><strong>313<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 PBS Kids<\/li>\n<li><strong>320<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Channel O<\/li>\n<li><strong>343<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 TBN<\/li>\n<li><strong>400<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 BBC World News<\/li>\n<li><strong>401<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 CNN<\/li>\n<li><strong>402<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Sky News<\/li>\n<li><strong>403<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 eNCA<\/li>\n<li><strong>404<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 SABC
