{"id":344967,"date":"2020-03-27T07:04:14","date_gmt":"2020-03-27T05:04:14","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=344967"},"modified":"2020-03-27T07:07:34","modified_gmt":"2020-03-27T05:07:34","slug":"21-day-lockdown-is-here-people-arrested-for-breaking-the-rules","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/344967-21-day-lockdown-is-here-people-arrested-for-breaking-the-rules.html","title":{"rendered":"21-day lockdown is here &#8211; People arrested for breaking the rules"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 21-day lockdown in South Africa came into effect this morning and several people have been arrested for breaching its restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>Regulations related to the lockdown prohibit the sale of alcohol and gatherings of any kind during the period.<\/p>\n<p>People are also not allowed to go jogging, walk their dog in public, or move between districts or provinces.<\/p>\n<p>There are also restrictions on visiting cinemas, bars and shebeens, restaurants, hotels, nightclubs, lodges, and beaches &#8211; many of which are closed for the lockdown.<\/p>\n<p>Police Minister Bheki Cele warned that those who break the rules will be arrested and face a fine or even jail time.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">People arrested<\/h3>\n<p>Several hours into the lockdown in South Africa, and arrests have already been made at establishments which broke the rules this morning.<\/p>\n<p>SABC News covered the arrests, with people who visited a tavern in Hillbrow arrested in the early hours of Friday morning. The manager of the tavern was also arrested.<\/p>\n<p>Comments regarding these arrested were mostly positive. \u201cI&#8217;m so glad South Africa&#8217;s government is taking this seriously. If they don&#8217;t, it will become like Italy,\u201d said one person.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIrresponsible, immature and selfish. This is an opportunity to be creative in so many ways.
