Summary: Ant Brooks announced today (23 September 2011) that he will step down as ISPA general manager, but will remain involved with the organization<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

The Internet Service Providers Association (ISPA)<\/a> was established on 6 June 1996, and since its humble beginnings has grown to represent in excess of 150 Internet Service Providers in South Africa.<\/p>\n

The Minister of Communications formally recognised ISPA as an Industry Representative Body in terms of section 71 of the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 on 20 May 2009.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the 2011 ISPA iWeek today (23 September), current General Manager Ant Brooks<\/a> said that it was his last iWeek as General Manager.<\/p>\n

Brooks was instrumental in the operations for ISPA since it was founded, and was a key player in many developments in the South African Internet environment.<\/p>\n

Brooks however said that he is not \u201cgoing very far\u201d, and will stay on as part of the executive committee for at least two years in an advisory capacity.<\/p>\n

At the same time Lynne Orrock<\/a> also announced that she will not be available for re-election as ISPA Joint-Chair.<\/p>\n
