{"id":3512,"date":"2008-04-15T13:08:00","date_gmt":"2008-04-15T11:08:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2008-04-15T13:08:00","modified_gmt":"2008-04-15T11:08:00","slug":"telkom-warns-against-bandwidth-theft","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/adsl\/3512-telkom-warns-against-bandwidth-theft.html","title":{"rendered":"Telkom warns against bandwidth theft"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A new scam which seeks to rob TelkomInternet&rsquo;s customers of their bandwidth has come to the attention of Telkom. <\/p>\n<p>Steven White, Executive for Converged Business Services Group, said: &ldquo;This scam is conducted through hoax emails requesting internet customers to confirm their usernames and passwords.&rdquo;<\/p>\n<p>He advised customers to be on high alert as this opens them up to bandwidth theft. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We have not sent our customers such a request and, as such, we request that they ignore these emails. TelkomInternet will never request its customers to confirm their usernames and passwords via email,&rdquo; said White.<\/p>\n<p>White continued: &ldquo;As part of our continuous commitment to adding more value to our internet service, we always introduce initiatives to protect our customers against bandwidth fraud.&rdquo; <\/p>\n<p>In this regard, he added, TelkomInternet has introduced the TelkomInternet Online Password Management Tool which enables our customers to securely change both their TelkomInternet account passwords and their e-mail passwords online on a regular basis. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Those customers who have already released their usernames and passwords must change their passwords immediately on <a href=\"https:\/\/online.telkomsa.net\/pmt\/index.html\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/online.telkomsa.net\/pmt\/index.html<\/a> or contact 10215.
