Summary:<\/span> MTN and Vodacom, the networks that carried the iPhone 4, are unable to say whether they will be bringing Apple\u2019s latest iteration of the iPhone to our shores.<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n

Apple<\/a> today announced the launch of its latest mobile phone, the iPhone 4S.\u00a0 This device sports a faster processor than the iPhone 4, a better camera, longer battery life and improved connectivity.<\/p>\n

Apple said that they will be be available in the US, Australia, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and the UK on Friday, October 14.<\/p>\n

iPhone 4S will roll out worldwide to 22 more countries by the end of October including Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Liechtenstein, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Singapore, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.<\/p>\n

Apple added that the iPhone 4S will arrive in 70 more countries by the end of the year, and it is likely that South Africa will be one of these countries.<\/p>\n

South African consumers will however have to wait and see when exactly the device will be launched in South Africa.<\/p>\n

iPhone 4S<\/p><\/div>\n

Vodacom<\/a> said that they have not received any official information on this product and therefore cannot confirm the launch date of the device at this stage.<\/p>\n

Virgin Mobile SA<\/a> said that while they continue to have discussions with Apple, they have not yet concluded any agreements with them.\u00a0 \u201cAccordingly, we unfortunately do not yet offer the iPhone,\u201d said Virgin Mobile.<\/p>\n

MTN<\/a> also said that they are not in a position to comment on the new iPhone\u2019s local availability, but MTN SA CEO Karel Pienaar<\/a> told MyBroadband that their subscribers can be assured that they will do their best to get the iPhone 4S to MTN stores as soon as possible.<\/p>\n

Cell C<\/a> and 8ta<\/a> were contacted for comment but they did not respond by the time of publication.<\/p>\n
