{"id":353739,"date":"2020-05-28T07:09:38","date_gmt":"2020-05-28T05:09:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=353739"},"modified":"2020-05-28T07:11:04","modified_gmt":"2020-05-28T05:11:04","slug":"playstation-5-showcase-expected-next-week","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/gaming\/353739-playstation-5-showcase-expected-next-week.html","title":{"rendered":"PlayStation 5 showcase expected next week"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sony Corp. is planning a digital event to showcase games for its next-generation PlayStation 5 console that may take place as early as next week, according to people with direct knowledge of the matter.<\/p>\n<p>The virtual event could be held June 3, though some people also cautioned that plans have been in flux and that the date may change.<\/p>\n<p>Other PlayStation 5 events may follow in the coming weeks and months, and Sony is not expected to reveal every essential detail on the console during its first presentation.<\/p>\n<p>A Sony spokesperson declined to comment. The company\u2019s shares were largely unchanged in early Thursday trading in Tokyo.<\/p>\n<p>The Japanese tech giant has only let out a trickle of information on the PlayStation 5 so far, which the company says remains on track for\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2020-04-16\/sony-is-said-to-plan-limited-playstation-5-output-in-first-year\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">release<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0this holiday season despite the Covid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n<p>Chief Executive Officer Kenichiro Yoshida said earlier this month that Sony \u201cwill soon be announcing a strong lineup of PS5 games.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>June is traditionally highlighted by the biggest games industry conference, E3 in Los Angeles, but that was canceled this year due to the spread of the virus.
