{"id":354617,"date":"2020-06-03T13:32:07","date_gmt":"2020-06-03T11:32:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=354617"},"modified":"2020-06-03T13:34:41","modified_gmt":"2020-06-03T11:34:41","slug":"rain-refunds-customers-after-billing-problems","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wireless\/354617-rain-refunds-customers-after-billing-problems.html","title":{"rendered":"Rain refunds customers after billing problems"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rain has confirmed that it suffered an issue that resulted in some clients being incorrectly billed for their services.<\/p>\n<p>One reader who contacted MyBroadband said they had downgraded their 5G service to Rain\u2019s unlimited off-peak 4G data product because they were not satisfied with the performance of their 5G connection.<\/p>\n<p>They received confirmation that they had been downgraded, and were told in the confirmation email that they would be charged a pro-rata rate for the 4G product of R241.67, and from July onwards they would pay the full R250 per month.<\/p>\n<p>However, the user said they were then billed for the full price of the 5G service on the same day \u2013 which comes to nearly double the price they were meant to pay as per the confirmation email.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Many similar reports<\/h3>\n<p>There have also been numerous reports on Hellopeter complaining about similar billing issues.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI registered for a SIM card and I got 2 SIM cards delivered. I didn\u2019t understand why this was done, however, I had the one SIM card cancelled and only activated the one,\u201d <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hellopeter.com\/rain-internet-service-provider\/reviews\/billing-incorrect-cant-even-get-anyone-to-help-online-or-telephonically-3086526\">said<\/a><\/strong> one user.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI started using it a week before the end of May. What happened to the pro-rata amount? I am again now billed for the second SIM card, which I didn\u2019t active and don\u2019t understand why?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Another <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hellopeter.com\/rain-internet-service-provider\/reviews\/5g-3086407\">user<\/a><\/strong> said they were double charged for their Rain SIM.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy wife and I took out the 5G R699 [deal]. We were charged when we placed the order and today again I see we are charged.
