{"id":355975,"date":"2020-06-12T12:15:30","date_gmt":"2020-06-12T10:15:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=355975"},"modified":"2020-06-12T12:16:33","modified_gmt":"2020-06-12T10:16:33","slug":"openview-suffers-downtime-across-all-channels","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/355975-openview-suffers-downtime-across-all-channels.html","title":{"rendered":"Openview suffers downtime across all channels"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Openview has <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/openviewHD\/posts\/1553382884841036\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>confirmed<\/strong><\/a> that its channels went down earlier today.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Hi fans, we are aware that all Openview channels are down and we are trying to resolve the problem,&#8221; Openview said.<\/p>\n<p>It said it would keep customers informed regarding its progress in solving the issue.<\/p>\n<p>30 minutes later, the company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/openviewHD\/posts\/1553410684838256\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>confirmed<\/strong><\/a> that its channels were back up and running.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;All channels have resumed. We really appreciate your understanding and patience. Thank you,&#8221; it said.<\/p>\n<p>However, it has not yet provided any reason for the outage.<\/p>\n<p>On Openview&#8217;s social media platforms, most users said their coverage had returned but a few still reported that Openview channels were down.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">About Openview<\/h3>\n<p>Openview, which launched in 2013, is a free-to-air satellite platform that is viewed by more than 2 million South African homes.<\/p>\n<p>Owned by eMedia, it has 16 channels and nine radio stations, with most of these channels available in HD quality.<\/p>\n<p>TV channels on Openview include the three free-to-air SABC channels, eTV, BBC World News, and eMovies.<\/p>\n<p>Signing up to the service and having the appropriate equipment installed costs R1,399 once-off.<\/p>\n<p>Unlike products like DStv, no further costs are incurred once the installation is complete.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Previous issues with Kwes\u00e8<\/h3>\n<p>Openview previously <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/broadcasting\/315379-openview-stops-broadcasting-kwese-free-sports.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>stopped broadcasting<\/strong><\/a>\u00a0Kwes\u00e8 Free Sports, which aired on channel 115, following issues with the channel&#8217;s broadcast signal.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDue to unforeseen technical difficulties, we have been unable to restore our channels in a satisfactory state at this time.
