{"id":35626,"date":"2011-10-07T20:52:53","date_gmt":"2011-10-07T18:52:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=35626"},"modified":"2011-10-10T10:07:41","modified_gmt":"2011-10-10T08:07:41","slug":"blackberry-delivers-cloud-services","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/35626-blackberry-delivers-cloud-services.html","title":{"rendered":"BlackBerry delivers cloud services"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The migration of mobile applications and services to the cloud will deliver a wealth of cost, flexibility and productivity benefits to consumers, business users, application developers and network operators in the years to come.<\/p>\n<p>That&#8217;s according to <a title=\"Robyn Milham\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/370544-Robyn-Milham\">Robyn Milham<\/a>, Head of Enterprise Sales for Southern Africa at <a title=\"Research In Motion (RIM)\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/313525-Research-in-Motion-%28RIM%29\">Research In Motion (RIM)<\/a>, who recently spoke at the <a title=\"BlackBerry\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342709-BlackBerry\">BlackBerry<\/a> Forum in Johannesburg.<\/p>\n<p>According to Milham, enterprise users are the primary drivers behind cloud adoption and are focusing on this technology as a method to drive down operations costs, improve the resilience and flexibility of their IT infrastructures and ensure that their users have access to mission-critical data applications and data at any time.<\/p>\n<p>Research from IDC indicates that 63% of South African companies have already started moving some applications to the cloud or plan to do so soon.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The technology behind cloud computing is not completely new,&#8221; said Milham.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;RIM has used a cloud-like infrastructure for more than 10 years to deliver services such as push e-mail and BBM (BlackBerry Messenger) to BlackBerry smartphone subscribers.
