{"id":357359,"date":"2020-06-24T08:42:19","date_gmt":"2020-06-24T06:42:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=357359"},"modified":"2020-06-24T08:44:12","modified_gmt":"2020-06-24T06:44:12","slug":"twitter-suffers-serious-data-breach","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/security\/357359-twitter-suffers-serious-data-breach.html","title":{"rendered":"Twitter suffers serious data breach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Twitter has warned business customers that their data may have been compromised following a security breach on the platform.<\/p>\n<p>In an email sent to the platform&#8217;s business clients which was seen by the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bbc.com\/news\/technology-53150157\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>BBC<\/strong><\/a>, Twitter said that the billing information of some businesses was stored in the browser cache, which could have resulted in this data being accessed by others.<\/p>\n<p>Data which was exposed through the browser cache included business clients&#8217; email addresses, phone numbers, and the last four digits of their credit card numbers.<\/p>\n<p>While the data listed above was potentially accessible by attackers, Twitter said there was no evidence that billing information was compromised.<\/p>\n<p>Twitter reportedly apologised to clients affected by the data breach, which included businesses that use Twitter&#8217;s advertising and analytics platforms.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We&#8217;re very sorry this happened.
