{"id":358045,"date":"2020-06-30T08:21:25","date_gmt":"2020-06-30T06:21:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=358045"},"modified":"2020-08-20T12:33:36","modified_gmt":"2020-08-20T10:33:36","slug":"mtn-5g-is-here-prices-and-coverage","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/5g\/358045-mtn-5g-is-here-prices-and-coverage.html","title":{"rendered":"MTN 5G is here &#8211; Prices and coverage"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MTN has launched its new 5G service in Gauteng, Western Cape, and Free State with data plans from 75GB to 500GB.<\/p>\n<p>The service is offered in two variants &#8211; 5G home Wi-Fi and 5G mobile.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>5G home Wi-Fi<\/strong> &#8211; This home-connected plug and play solution connects Wi-Fi-enabled devices.<\/li>\n<li><strong>5G mobile<\/strong> &#8211; Connect to MTN\u2019s 5G network and enjoy fast connectivity at home or on the go.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>5G home Wi-Fi promises average speeds of 100Mbps and peak speeds of 500Mbps, while 5G mobile offers average speeds of 50Mbps and peak speeds of 500Mbps.<\/p>\n<p>MTN\u2019s 5G is currently available in Bryanston and Honeydew in Gauteng, Blouberg in Cape Town, and Universitas in Bloemfontein.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re rolling out 5G across South Africa, and soon you\u2019ll have 5G coverage everywhere you go,\u201d MTN said.<\/p>\n<p>MTN is offering three 5G phones to South Africans \u2013 the Huawei P40 Pro, Huawei P40, and LG Velvet 5G.<\/p>\n<p>For its 5G home Wi-Fi service, it is offering the Huawei CPE Pro 2 5G, Huawei E6878, and ZTE MC801A.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">5G data plans<\/h3>\n<p>MTN is offering a wide range of 24-month and 36-month data plans priced between R499 and R1,599 per month.<\/p>\n<p>The company is also offering unlimited data plans for R999 on a 36-month contract and R1,249 on a 24-month contract.<\/p>\n<p>A fair usage policy of 200GB per month applies to the MTN Unlimited 5G packages, and the launch promotion pricing is only valid until 31 July 2020.<\/p>\n<p>The pricing is detailed in the table below.
