{"id":35834,"date":"2011-10-11T19:35:47","date_gmt":"2011-10-11T17:35:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=35834"},"modified":"2011-10-12T09:51:00","modified_gmt":"2011-10-12T07:51:00","slug":"blackberry-takes-a-beating-online","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/35834-blackberry-takes-a-beating-online.html","title":{"rendered":"BlackBerry takes a beating online"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <a title=\"BlackBerry\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342709-BlackBerry\">Blackberry<\/a> Internet Service was disrupted for the second time in two days in South Africa on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>The service interruption was felt in Europe, the Middle East, India, Brazil, Chile, Argentina and Africa, said <a title=\"Research in Motion (RIM)\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/313525-Research-in-Motion-%28RIM%29\">Research in Motion (RIM)<\/a> &#8212; the company that manufactures Blackberry.<\/p>\n<p>The company would not give details on the cause of the problem or how long it was expected to last.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We are working to restore normal service as quickly as possible. We apologise for any inconvenience this has caused,&#8221; RIM said.<\/p>\n<p>On Monday, Blackberry users experienced a similar outage.<\/p>\n<p>The service was restored for several hours on Monday, but faltered again on Tuesday.<\/p>\n<p>Many users vented their frustration on social media sites like Twitter.<\/p>\n<p>One said: &#8220;Ok, this BlackBerry thing is ridiculous now.
