{"id":361858,"date":"2020-07-30T09:18:52","date_gmt":"2020-07-30T07:18:52","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=361858"},"modified":"2020-07-30T09:20:27","modified_gmt":"2020-07-30T07:20:27","slug":"google-chat-gets-a-dark-theme","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/361858-google-chat-gets-a-dark-theme.html","title":{"rendered":"Google Chat gets a dark theme"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google has <a href=\"https:\/\/gsuiteupdates.googleblog.com\/2020\/07\/dark-theme-google-chat.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>announced<\/strong><\/a> that its Chat app will get dark theme support.<\/p>\n<p>The new feature, which will be available on both Android and iOS, does not require any action from users, as it will automatically respect your Android system settings.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Dark theme is a popular feature that\u2019s frequently requested by users,&#8221; said Google.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;It creates a better viewing experience in low-light conditions by reducing brightness.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Google said that this new feature will roll out over the next two weeks, and will be available to all G Suite customers.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Google&#8217;s dark mode push<\/h3>\n<p>Google Chat is the latest of several Google apps to get support for dark mode.<\/p>\n<p>The company also recently <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/359017-more-google-apps-get-dark-mode-on-android.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>updated<\/strong><\/a> its Docs, Sheets, and Slides apps on Android to support its Android dark theme.<\/p>\n<p>As is the case with Google Chat, these apps automatically adjust themselves based on the device&#8217;s Android system settings.<\/p>\n<p>However, these can also manually be set to use dark mode independently to the settings used by the Android operating system.<\/p>\n<p>To do this, the user must navigate to Menu &gt;
