{"id":363664,"date":"2020-08-13T08:28:46","date_gmt":"2020-08-13T06:28:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=363664"},"modified":"2020-08-13T08:31:06","modified_gmt":"2020-08-13T06:31:06","slug":"facebook-will-warn-users-before-they-share-covid-19-articles","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/363664-facebook-will-warn-users-before-they-share-covid-19-articles.html","title":{"rendered":"Facebook will warn users before they share COVID-19 articles"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Facebook will <a href=\"https:\/\/about.fb.com\/news\/2020\/06\/more-context-for-news-articles-and-other-content\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>roll out<\/strong><\/a> a new notification screen which will provide users with additional context before they post or share COVID-19 content.<\/p>\n<p>This notification screen will do the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Highlight that the article mentions COVID-19.<\/li>\n<li>Link to the COVID-19 Information Centre.<\/li>\n<li>Mention who the article is originally from, and how long they have been a member on Facebook.<\/li>\n<li>Detail when the article was first shared.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&#8220;We want to make sure people have the context they need to make informed decisions about what to share on Facebook, especially when it comes to COVID-19 content,&#8221; said Facebook.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The notification will help people understand the recency and source of the content before they share it.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Facebook added that it does not want to slow the spread of legitimate information about the pandemic from national and global health authorities.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, content posted by government health authorities and recognised global health organisations &#8211;
