{"id":36454,"date":"2011-10-22T00:05:50","date_gmt":"2011-10-21T22:05:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=36454"},"modified":"2011-10-24T09:34:59","modified_gmt":"2011-10-24T07:34:59","slug":"the-notebook-company-changes-ads-at-dells-demand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/hardware\/36454-the-notebook-company-changes-ads-at-dells-demand.html","title":{"rendered":"The Notebook Company changes ads at Dell&#8217;s demand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"The Notebook Company\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/347630-The-Notebook-Company\">The Notebook Company<\/a>, a notebook and accessories retailer in South Africa, said that it has removed the <a title=\"Dell\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/354710-Dell\">Dell<\/a> logos from all its online and offline advertising at the behest of Dell.<\/p>\n<p>According to the retailer they have replaced all Dell\u2019s logos on their websites with \u201cDell PartnerDirect Registered\u201d images as per Dell\u2019s requests.<\/p>\n<p>Dell\u2019s lawyers, Adams &amp; Adams, informed The Notebook Company earlier this year (June 2011) that <a title=\"Dell and The Notebook Company heading for trademark dispute?\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/hardware\/26635-dell-and-the-notebook-company-heading-for-trademark-dispute.html\">all Dell logos must be removed<\/a> from any signage, websites or\u00a0other\u00a0material displayed by The Notebook Company.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI am still of the belief that you will not find this kind of\u00a0pettiness from other brands that have used the channel for a long time,\u201d The Notebook Company CEO <a title=\"Christopher Riley\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/347634-Christopher-Riley-The-Notebook-Company\">Christopher Riley<\/a> said in a press statement.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_36458\" style=\"width: 589px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-36458\" class=\"size-full wp-image-36458\" title=\"Dell Partner Direct Registered logo\" src=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Dell-Partner-Direct-Registered.jpg\" alt=\"Here's hoping we don't get threatening letters from Dell as well...\" width=\"579\" height=\"188\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Dell-Partner-Direct-Registered.jpg 579w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Dell-Partner-Direct-Registered-100x32.jpg 100w, https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/Dell-Partner-Direct-Registered-185x60.jpg 185w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 579px) 100vw, 579px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-36458\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dell Partner Direct Registered<\/p><\/div>\n<p>\u201cTechnically, each time you see an advert using logos of products such as <a title=\"HP Hewlett Packard\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/307341-HP-Hewlett-Packard\">HP<\/a>, <a title=\"Lenovo\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/349182-Lenovo\">Lenovo<\/a>, <a title=\"Sony Corp\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/359638-Sony-Ericsson\">Sony<\/a>, <a title=\"Toshiba\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/349102-Toshiba\">Toshiba<\/a>, <a title=\"Acer\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/352522-Acer\">Acer<\/a> from a retailer they should have received permission from \u00a0the trademark holder to display the logo. We all know this does not happen.
