WE ALL KNOW about blogging, and many people have found that the combination of opinionated comment and day-to-day minutia too much to bear. Well, there’s now another variant of blogging – the microblog.<\/p>\n
The principle of the microblog is that there are people who want to share thoughts or experiences with a number of friends but don’t have the time or inclination to write or maintain a proper blog.<\/p>\n
For those who use Facebook, it’s the little status update that reads “so and so is…” and you fill in your state of mind or current physical activity. The most popular micro-blogging service is Twitter (www.twitter.com<\/a>), which asks the simple question: “What are you doing?” You then have 140 characters to state your mind. Other examples include Jaiku and Pownce.<\/p>\n While some people use it to describe their activities, many use it to muse about life in general or ask questions of the people who read them.<\/p>\n Others use it as a facility to break news quickly and some follow key newsmakers and journalists to get the latest gossip on happenings in the Web 2.0 world.<\/p>\n For those who like to live the private life, microblogging is the latest abomination to hit the Internet, but for Internet protagonists it’s the next big thing.<\/p>\n
