{"id":37200,"date":"2011-10-31T09:05:50","date_gmt":"2011-10-31T07:05:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=37200"},"modified":"2011-10-31T09:09:03","modified_gmt":"2011-10-31T07:09:03","slug":"iphone-4s-battery-bug-caused-by-location-service-feature","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/37200-iphone-4s-battery-bug-caused-by-location-service-feature.html","title":{"rendered":"iPhone 4S battery bug caused by location service feature?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>iPhone 4S users are reporting drastic drops in battery life even when all user controlled applications are off, an issue that could be caused by the device\u2019s Location Services feature.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;See, it appears that iOS 5\u2032s GM release introduced a bug that causes the Setting Time Zone function to keep the location tracking circuitry running constantly, draining battery power considerably,&#8221; according to <a title=\"Oliver Haslam\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/377294-Oliver-Haslam\">Oliver Haslam<\/a> of iDownloadBlog.<\/p>\n<p>Some iPhone users are reporting that their devices only last \u201ca couple of hours\u201d at best even when not in use, far shorter than the claimed 200 hour standby time the iPhone 4S spec sheet boasts.<\/p>\n<p>There is no official response from <a title=\"Apple\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342717-Apple-inc\">Apple<\/a> as yet, though Apple engineers have been contacting iPhone 4S users to inquire about device usage.
