{"id":37358,"date":"2011-11-02T10:23:10","date_gmt":"2011-11-02T08:23:10","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=37358"},"modified":"2011-11-02T10:25:14","modified_gmt":"2011-11-02T08:25:14","slug":"e-volo-makes-multicopter-aviation-history","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/37358-e-volo-makes-multicopter-aviation-history.html","title":{"rendered":"E-volo makes multicopter aviation history"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>German engineers at <a title=\"e-volo\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/378256-e-volo\">e-volo<\/a> have successfully completed the first manned flight of an electric multicopter.<\/p>\n<p>The Multicopter uses multiple mini helicopters arranged in a square in sets of four configured to achieve lift.<\/p>\n<p>In the centre of the invention sat <a title=\"Thomas Senkel\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/378254-Thomas-Senkel\">Thomas Senkel<\/a>, a graduate physicist who had previously completed unmanned tests on the unit before attempting a manned test late in October. Senkel commented, \u201cThe flight characteristics are good natured.
