{"id":37711,"date":"2011-11-07T11:00:41","date_gmt":"2011-11-07T09:00:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=37711"},"modified":"2011-11-07T11:26:51","modified_gmt":"2011-11-07T09:26:51","slug":"blackberry-vs-android-vs-iphone","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/37711-blackberry-vs-android-vs-iphone.html","title":{"rendered":"BlackBerry vs Android vs iPhone"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Vodacom\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/227063-Vodacom\">Vodacom<\/a> said today (7 November 2011) that <a title=\"BlackBerry\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342709-BlackBerry\">BlackBerry<\/a> devices are still dominating the local smartphone market despite strong growth from <a title=\"Android Mobile Oerating System\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/221979-Google-Android\">Android<\/a> devices and the <a title=\"Apple\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/342717-Apple-inc\">iPhone<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Vodacom said that the appetite for smartphones amongst their customer base is very strong, with active smartphones on the network increasing by approximately 870,000 over the last six months to 4.1 million.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile mobile broadband devices still account for the majority of data traffic on our network, the growth rate of smartphone data traffic is ten times higher than that of dongles and other modems,\u201d said Vodacom CEO <a title=\"Pieter Uys\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/210077-Pieter-Uys\">Pieter Uys<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>BlackBerry still dominates<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Vodacom revealed that they currently have 1.5 million BlackBerry devices on their network, compared to roughly 200,000 Android devices and also 200,000 iPhones.<\/p>\n<p>The average data usage for smartphones on the Vodacom network is 80MB.
