{"id":377128,"date":"2020-11-24T07:56:24","date_gmt":"2020-11-24T05:56:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=377128"},"modified":"2020-11-24T07:57:31","modified_gmt":"2020-11-24T05:57:31","slug":"next-ios-version-will-end-support-for-old-iphones-report","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/377128-next-ios-version-will-end-support-for-old-iphones-report.html","title":{"rendered":"Next iOS version will end support for old iPhones &#8211; Report"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Apple&#8217;s next version os its iOS mobile operating system &#8211; iOS 15 &#8211; will end support for a number of older iPhones.<\/p>\n<p>This is according to a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/theverifier.co.il\/50272\/ios-15-ends-support-iphone-6s-iphone-6s-plus-iphone-se\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>The Verifier<\/strong><\/a>, which said that iOS 15 will remove support for the original iPhone SE, as well as the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus.<\/p>\n<p>This means that only the iPhone 7 and newer devices will be supported by Apple&#8217;s operating system.<\/p>\n<p>These smartphones will still function normally on the currently available iOS 14 operating system, but they will no longer receive any version updates.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore if you have one of the affected smartphones want to stay up to date with Apple&#8217;s new software features, you will need to upgrade to a new iPhone.<\/p>\n<p>The last two iOS releases, iOS 14 and iOS 13, did not drop support for older handsets upon release.<\/p>\n<p>The most recent iOS 14 updates have addressed launch issues with Apple&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/smartphones\/371307-iphone-12-pro-launched-the-most-powerful-iphone-ever.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>latest range of iPhones<\/strong><\/a> &#8211; the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Mini.<\/p>\n<p>These included display problems on the iPhone 12 Mini and bug fixes across all devices.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">New iPhone lineup<\/h3>\n<p>Apple&#8217;s new iPhone 12 devices include the company&#8217;s new A14 Bionic chipset, which boasts significant performance improvements over the previous generation.<\/p>\n<p>It uses a 5nm manufacturing process and includes 11.8 billion transistors, with all of its cores being up to 40% faster than the A13 Bionic \u2013 while also being more power-efficient.<\/p>\n<p>These smartphones also sport a new MagSafe feature &#8211; comprising a magnet on the back of the handset which attachments can latch onto.<\/p>\n<p>These include cardholders and wallets, and the magnet also improves the fast-charging capabilities of the new iPhones.<\/p>\n<p>The company has also stopped shipping new earphones or charging bricks with its new devices, citing the positive environmental impact of this decision.<\/p>\n<h3 class=\"my-4\">Now read: <a href=\"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/376693-google-launches-rcs-messaging-worldwide.html\" rel=\"bookmark\">Google launches RCS messaging worldwide<\/a><\/h3>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Apple&#8217;s next version os its iOS mobile operating system &#8211; iOS 15 &#8211; will end support for a number of older iPhones.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":341028,"featured_media":159223,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"closed","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[16],"tags":[605,67786,30912,32734,36201],"class_list":["post-377128","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-software","tag-apple","tag-ios-15","tag-iphone-6s","tag-iphone-6s-plus","tag-iphone-se"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/377128"}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/341028"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=377128"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/377128\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/159223"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=377128"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=377128"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=377128"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
