{"id":38263,"date":"2011-11-14T14:35:27","date_gmt":"2011-11-14T12:35:27","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=38263"},"modified":"2011-11-14T14:37:29","modified_gmt":"2011-11-14T12:37:29","slug":"absa-atm-refresh-underway","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/business\/38263-absa-atm-refresh-underway.html","title":{"rendered":"Absa ATM refresh underway"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Absa announced today (14 November 2011) that they are making changes to their Automated Teller Machine (ATM) network that will see the ATM \u201cevolving\u00a0from simply being a cash dispenser to a comprehensive digital banking tool\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSelf-service kiosks\u201d will have the following new features, Absa said:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Request bank statements with patented \u201ceStamp\u201d that will soon be widely accepted as an alternative to normal bank statements.<\/li>\n<li>Scan \u2018n Pay: Absa and non-Absa customers can scan bar-coded invoices from certain utility providers and companies and pay from an Absa account or by inserting cash.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>For 2012, Absa plan to let customers \u201cgive something back\u201d by making quick donations to a selection of charitable organisations.<\/p>\n<p>Absa said that over the next three years, the above-mentioned changes will be complemented by the rollout of new ATM and kiosk casings &#8211; as well as the replacement of some of Absa\u2019s older devices.<\/p>\n<p>The full press release is below:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The new ATM interfaces feature fresh designs and helpful animations, more intuitive screen navigation, faster transactions, anti-skimming security enhancements, video-based information messages and a reduced risk of ATMs going offline.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur range of innovations are expected to reduce the length of queues in branches, particularly at month end, thereby making access to a range of banking options more convenient for our customers,\u201d says Christo Vrey, Managing Executive of Absa Digital Channels.<\/p>\n<p>He adds: \u201cAnnually, over R200 billion is moved via our ATM network, through 500 million transactions. With nearly 6 000 Absa-owned devices and approximately 3 000 Absa-supported ones, clearly this is one of our most fundamental customer touch-points.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are now in the exciting phase of rolling out a brand new ATM experience across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>At Absa self-service kiosks, customers will be able to request bank statements that feature an electronic stamp.
