The “food source” is methane gas, which is converted from solid bathroom waste and vegetable trimmings.

The light will remain on as long as there is a supply of nutrients; however the light itself is not bright enough to illuminate an entire room. Philips instead sees the bio-light as an ambient light source, and say that real world applications could include night time road markings, as well as warning strips for planes and stairs.

Read the full story over at: Cnet.

Philips bio light concept

[17
7025,7027,4400,7023
post-38977","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-technology","tag-bacteria","tag-bio-light","tag-philips","tag-philips-microbial-home-project
