{"id":38981,"date":"2011-11-29T09:40:25","date_gmt":"2011-11-29T07:40:25","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=38981"},"modified":"2011-11-29T09:42:19","modified_gmt":"2011-11-29T07:42:19","slug":"amd-shifts-competitive-focus-away-from-intel","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/38981-amd-shifts-competitive-focus-away-from-intel.html","title":{"rendered":"AMD shifts competitive focus away from Intel"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Having played second fiddle to <a title=\"Intel\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/307489-Intel\">Intel<\/a> in the desktop space for years, <a title=\"AMD\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/219302-AMD\">AMD<\/a> has decided to take on smaller fish in the mobile processor space.<\/p>\n<p>According to AMD spokesman Mike Silverman, &#8220;we will all need to let go of the old &#8216;AMD versus Intel&#8217; mindset, because it won&#8217;t be about that anymore.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>AMDs current market share sits at 19 percent, down from 23 percent in 2006, and the recently released Bulldozer architecture is unlikely to bolster this thanks to poor performance that was met with disappointing reviews.
