{"id":389916,"date":"2021-03-18T09:10:02","date_gmt":"2021-03-18T07:10:02","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=389916"},"modified":"2021-03-18T09:10:44","modified_gmt":"2021-03-18T07:10:44","slug":"google-chrome-rolls-out-real-time-captions-for-all-users","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/software\/389916-google-chrome-rolls-out-real-time-captions-for-all-users.html","title":{"rendered":"Google Chrome rolls out real-time captions for all users"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Google Chrome has expanded the availability of its Live Captions feature to anybody using a Chrome browser, according to a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.xda-developers.com\/google-chrome-live-caption-feature-rolls-out-transcribe-speech-videos\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>XDA Developers<\/strong><\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Previously, this functionality was only available on Google Pixel devices, but it is now confirmed to work on many non-Pixel smartphones.<\/p>\n<p>The tool provides automated captions in real-time for audio playing on your device, as well as videos.<\/p>\n<p>It also works for phone calls and other media sources such as podcasts.<\/p>\n<p>As this functionality rolls out for more Android smartphones, it has also been included in the latest update for the Chrome desktop browser &#8211; Chrome 89.<\/p>\n<p>To enable Live Captions on Chrome, users must navigate to <strong>Settings &gt; Advanced &gt; Accessibility<\/strong> and toggle the Live Caption option.<\/p>\n<p>Once enabled, speech recognition files will be downloaded by Google Chrome.
