{"id":39025,"date":"2011-11-29T20:29:29","date_gmt":"2011-11-29T18:29:29","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=39025"},"modified":"2011-11-30T10:01:49","modified_gmt":"2011-11-30T08:01:49","slug":"google-indoor-maps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/internet\/39025-google-indoor-maps.html","title":{"rendered":"Google indoor maps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a title=\"Google\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/314567-Google\">Google&#8217;s<\/a> next frontier in digital mapping will span the world&#8217;s shopping malls and airports.<\/p>\n<p>In an upgrade released Tuesday, Google Inc. unveiled a feature that will include indoor directions within stores, malls, airports and transit centers in the U.S. and Japan.<\/p>\n<p>The indoor directions include two retailers known for their labyrinth stores &#8211; Home Depot and Ikea. Macy&#8217;s and Bloomingdales also have shared the floor plans of a few of their biggest stores. The Mall of America in Minnesota and 16 U.S. airports also are included in Google&#8217;s initial index of indoor directions.<\/p>\n<p>For now, Google&#8217;s indoor maps can only be viewed on smartphones and tablet computers that run on the company&#8217;s <a title=\"Android Mobile Oerating System\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/221979-Google-Android\">Android<\/a> software.
