{"id":3910,"date":"2008-05-26T15:11:00","date_gmt":"2008-05-26T13:11:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2008-05-26T15:11:00","modified_gmt":"2008-05-26T13:11:00","slug":"samsung-unveils-256-gb-ssd","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/hardware\/3910-samsung-unveils-256-gb-ssd.html","title":{"rendered":"Samsung unveils 256 GB SSD"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Samsung Electronics said Monday it has developed a new solid-state drive  which is expected to replace hard disk drives in laptop computers.<\/p>\n<p>Samsung said its 256-gigabyte solid state drive (SSD) for data storage is 2.4  times faster than traditional hard drives. The company plans to begin production  of SSDs this year.<\/p>\n<p>The new SSD &quot;represents a bold step in the shift to notebooks with  significantly improved performance and larger storage capacities,&quot; the company  said in a statement.<\/p>\n<p>Samsung described the new SSD, 2.5 inches long and 9.5 millimeters thick, as  the world&#8217;s smallest of its kind.
