{"id":39129,"date":"2011-12-01T10:01:59","date_gmt":"2011-12-01T08:01:59","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/?p=39129"},"modified":"2011-12-01T10:03:34","modified_gmt":"2011-12-01T08:03:34","slug":"thailand-floods-spur-ssd-demand","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/technology\/39129-thailand-floods-spur-ssd-demand.html","title":{"rendered":"Thailand floods spur SSD demand"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Hard drive prices have steadily risen since October thanks to heavy flooding in Thailand, a country that accounts for around 70 percent of global hard drive related production.<\/p>\n<p>This is leading to increased demand for solid state drives (SSDs) according to <a title=\"Micron Technology\" href=\"http:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/vb\/showthread.php\/386153-Micron-Technology\">Micron Technology<\/a>, one of the largest flash memory chip manufacturers in the world.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Clearly there&#8217;s an increase in demand because of the Thailand flooding.
