{"id":3915,"date":"2008-05-27T09:17:00","date_gmt":"2008-05-27T07:17:00","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2011-06-06T15:05:05","modified_gmt":"2011-06-06T13:05:05","slug":"mtn-takes-a-dive","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mybroadband.co.za\/news\/cellular\/3915-mtn-takes-a-dive.html","title":{"rendered":"MTN takes a dive"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>MTN\u2019s share price took a tumble yesterday, its fastest dip in four years, with  its takeover on hold<\/p>\n<p>The stock fell 7,6% from Friday\u2019s closing price of R157 to an intra day  R145,11 low after Indian suitor Bharti Airtel walked away rather than lift its  R165 per share bid.<\/p>\n<p>Now MTN has declared a lock down period of 45 days to hold exclusive talks  with Bharti rival Reliance Communications. Reliance proposes \u201ca potential  business combination\u201d although MTN stresses there is no certainty the talks will  lead to anything.<\/p>\n<p>The tie-up with Bharti imploded as the operators failed to agree on a  suitable structure for merging operations. Bharti said structures had been  evaluated before terms were drawn up.
